About Us

Our Mission

We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all ages by incorporating

Equine Therapy and the farm environments into our treatment programs, classes and camps.

How We Can Help You

Hoofprints to Heal Therapy is a Non-Profit organization that provides Occupational Therapy services incorporating Hippotherapy and Adaptive/Therapeutic Riding to children, adolescents, and/or adults. Our therapists are AED/CPR Certified.

See the Difference

At Hoofprints to Heal Therapy we maintain a small client base to ensure quality care where clients are not just a number. We focus on forming a personal relationship with the clients and their family in order to learn the client's individual needs. This allows us to provide sessions custom detailed to their needs while giving just the right amount of challenge for them to meet their goals. We also include parent education because we believe that treatment is not limited to the work in a session, but success happens at home too!

Our Services

Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy

Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy

Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy is not a horseback riding lesson. It is a treatment strategy used within an Occupational Therapy session, approved by a physician and implemented by a team that includes a licensed, credentialed therapist, a competent horse handler and a specially screened and trained therapy horse. The goal is to improve neurological functioning and cognition, body movement, organization and attention levels to improve function throughout daily activities.

  • There is direct hands on participation by the therapist at all times.
  • The horse's movement is essential to assist in meeting therapy goals.
  • Hippotherapy is a one-on-one treatment and generally occurs until the client meets discharge criteria.
  • The treating therapist continually assesses and modifies therapy based on the client's response.
  • Occupational Therapy in which hippotherapy is utilized, is reimbursable by medical insurance (third party)

Adaptive/Therapeutic Riding

Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy

Occupational Therapy incorporating Hippotherapy

Adapted recreational horse back riding lessons adapted to individuals with disabilities. These lessons are completed by a therapeutic horseback riding instructor in conjunction with volunteers.

  • Sessions are sometimes taught in a group format where the instructor responds to the group as a whole, in addition to fostering individual success.
  • There is occasional hands-on assistance by the riding instructor and/or volunteers, but the instructor usually teaches from the center of the ring.
  •  Horses used for therapeutic riding instruction have been screened to make sure they have the proper temperament for this job.
  • Therapeutic riding emphasizes on proper riding position and reining skills, not functional therapeutic goals.
  • Because therapeutic riding is an adaptive/recreational/sport activity, not therapy, it is not covered by insurance.

Having the opportunity to work with and learn from Julianne is an awesome experience and being even a small part of helping her clients reach their goals is something that I hold dear to my heart. When you love what you do, it's not really work. The beauty of the property, getting to spend time with the animals, and the opportunity to help others is priceless! The physical workout here is much more fun than going to a gym too! (grin)"

Although it's a lot of work, it's extremely rewarding. volunteering here has been a wonderful experience for me. Julianne and her team are an absolute joy to work with! Becoming certified in Horse Powered Reading has enabled me to work with children in literacy using horses as the child's reading buddy. As a retired teacher, this is a unique opportunity to incorporate the warmth and calmness of horses with children and literacy. The little miracles that occur here on a daily basis is extraordinary! Their smiles say it all!

"Volunteering at H2H has been such an amazing opportunity for me. I can't express the joy I feel when working alongside Julianne and the rest of the team. I have a background in photography and teaching, which has helped me fill several positions here at H2H. But it has also challenged me to learn more and venture into new areas that I found to be enjoyable. Watching not only my own children, but others grow with Equine Assisted therapy has been one of one biggest blessing."
